Pure Evoke-1S Marshall Level Auxiliary Audio Input Media
The style of the Pure Evoke-1S Marshall is obviously a tribute to the classic aspect Marshall amps with black vinyl, large pieces of plastic protective corners, large rubber grip, white logo, Marshall and material gold. It will certainly not be to everyone’s taste, but within the limits of making a radio that looks like a Marshall amp, it is as good as we expect.
Build quality, however, is beyond debate. Just as amplifiers of the company are designed to withstand life on the road, so the Marshall Evoke-1S features of anything that window ledge of a kitchen or a local conservation can meter out. These corner guards should save this radio any serious injury from a fall, unless you are unfortunate enough to have landed straight on a button. Meanwhile, the robust and flexible vinyl is a good job of absorbing and disguise minor impacts, and is wipeclean.
Below the four rubber feet that stop anything scratching radio and turn the radio to respond. As for the rubber grip, it looks and feels identical to those used on Full Size Amps Marshall, who are quite capable of withstanding the weight of an amplifier 30 kg, 2.2 kg so simple this radio it should cause any problem.
Around the back of the telescopic antenna, the battery compartment and a number of ports. From left to right is a USB port that can be used to update the firmware of the devices, an auxiliary speaker jack for adding stereo sound via a loudspeaker corresponding second (S-1 available for £ 35), a headphone jack, a line-level output, a line level auxiliary audio input, and power of course. One trouble with Pure radios use a proprietary battery, rather than just normal AA or similar. However, the optional battery, you will have 24 hours of portable music.
The only slight let down in regards fit and finish is the plastic part of the control panel. Although the sections are gold brass (hmmm, oxymoron), the surrounding areas are black plastic. It always looks good and is not something means to get hooked on but it is interesting to note.
In all these clothes Marshall is another bog standard radio Pure Evoke-1S DAB. So you get the opportunity to settle in DAB and FM presets with up to 30 shared between the two types. Five of these presets can be accessed directly via the buttons on the front while pressing the 6 + will display a list of 25 additional presets which you can then scroll through.
Okay, we know that it is a bit silly: a DAB radio that looks like a guitar amp.
